About me

Jason Jemera, MSN, PMHNP-BC

I am a prescribing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in Sacramento, California who emphasizes behavioral therapy, education, and holistic modalities in my practice to promote lifelong wellness.

My specialities include depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, life transitions, academic & career stress, peer relationships, and life coaching.

What Motivates Me:

As somebody from AAPI (Filipino) descent with an extensive background in cultural and social justice work, I want to be a resource to adults who struggle to find representation in the field of psychiatry.

My upbringing amidst Bay Area community violence; in addition to my experience with inner-city social equity work, national poetry competitions, global travel, and overseas medical missions; motivates me to practice in the forward-thinking field of psychiatry where we must understand that wellness is directly impacted by our cultural upbringing, environmental influence, attachment styles, relationships, exposure to trauma, and the broadened umbrella of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

How I Maintain my Own Self-Care:
My hobbies include yoga, HIIT, powerlifting, rock climbing, surfing, snowboarding, cycling, dance, curating music, anime, travel, backpacking, volunteer work, public speaking, and spending time with my community.

Q&A on my Approach

What to expect from sessions:

Our sessions will go beyond those quick pill-push appointments that are often seen in psychiatry. I want to truly see you and your goals; while providing thorough education on mental health.

How long are sessions?

The first intake is 1-hour. Follow-ups are 45-minutes.

What happens in the first sessions?

The first two sessions are about getting to know you. Then we will discuss if this is a good fit and create a plan together.

What types of treatment do you use?

In addition to psychiatric medications and diagnostic screening tools, I use the following:

Mental Health. Anxiety and Depression management. MindLight
Mental Health. Anxiety and Depression management. MindLight
  • Supplemental Nutrition

  • Career and Academic Coaching

  • Habit Building for Attention Deficit

  • Communication Practice

  • Education on Healing Trauma

  • Behavioral Activation

  • Culturally Sensitive Therapy

When I do prescribe medications, I take the time to educate on how neurotransmitters and hormones work in the body, what the measurable goals of the medication are, and what our timeline of using it may be.

What is your policy on controlled medications?

*** At this time I do not prescribe controlled medications through my online Telehealth platform with Grow and MindLight; including stimulants (Adderall, Ritalin, modafinil, etc) and benzodiazepines (Xanax, clonazepam, lorazepam, diazepam, Ambien, etc).

If you are local to the Sacramento area and are interested in ADHD evaluation & treatment OR in safely weaning OFF of benzodiazepine use; you can contact the Zeam Roseville team I partner with and get externally scheduled with me here.

My overall goals are to help you better understand your mental health and move towards your long term wellness goals.

  • Life Coaching

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Interpersonal Therapy

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy

  • Meditation & Relaxation

  • Anxiety Management Techniques

  • Sleep Improvement Techniques
